Today was the day. Layla Faye Handsaker is officially a preschooler. As you can see, she was very excited and knew just the pose she wanted for this picture. I found that funny. We just returned from dropping her off and let me tell you there were many tears shed. Not by Layla, oh no, she was fine. It was me. I had to almost sprint back to the car so she wouldn't see me lose it. Half of her classmates were in hysterics so she was a little apprehensive as I prepared to leave, but no tears, no clinging. All I could think was, "this is it, she will now always go to school." As I mentally prepared for this day, it was hard for me to get over the fact that I just drop her off somewhere and leave. I felt like I was doing something illegal. But now that I'm home and Cooper is taking his nap, I can see where I will enjoy these couple hours twice a week. There are more changes in our house since the last post. Cooper is eating cereal and sitting on his own. He had been dabbling in the sitting thing lately but yesterday marked the day he's sitting for several minutes and able to use his trunk muscle to catch himself if he wobbles. Also, when laying on his stomach, he can get his knees up under himself and scoot. If I leave the room for a minute I usually come back to find his legs stuck under some piece of furniture as he can only go in reverse. I've always said he's laid back, but I don't think that is the right adjective. He loves to move and explore and is only still when he sleeps. Really, I think the right word for Coop is content.

That's so funny- the more you describe Cooper's personality, the more he sounds just like Bennett! They could be great buddies some day.
Oh man, I can't believe Layla started preschool! What a strange thing to get used to. But yes, I'm sure you'll love that time she's gone! And you know she's going to love every minute of it!
I can remember thinking ... "This is the next chapter in her/our life." Bittersweet, I know.
I get such a kick out of your posts because I can remember going through similar things with my kids. Thanks for the recollection of memories, a glimpse in to your future family memories, and for inspiring me to put things down in my own blog!! Take care!
