"I Will Praise You Through the Storm"

I will, I will, I will, no matter how much water comes into our finished basement, I will praise you through the storm Lord! We had a great weekend with Micki and Lucinda, just truly wonderful! I fell into bed Sunday night ready for some sleep! I heard the rain and thunder at midnight and at 2:30, the rain was still coming down so strong my gut told me to wake Dave to check the basement. He came back upstairs to tell me Layla's room has water. Uh! I was so mad, I had just reorganized her closet and cleaned that room. Well, little did I know that was the least of my worries. We had water coming in everywhere but Dave's office. It was coming in so fast, we didn't know where to start. Our house is a walk out ranch and has always done very well with mass amounts of rain. It is tiled underground to run all rain water to our pond. Well, as the sun rose that morning, we soon understood why the tile wasn't working our pond, which is normally about 1-2 acres and about 100 yards from the house, was backed up over our driveway. No wonder Dave and I couldn't get ahead of the water in the basement. It kept raining until 5am that morning. Praise God for our friends and neighbors, the Englands. I called at 3am and they were there in minutes helping us haul furniture upstairs, rip out carpet, pad and vacuum out all the water. By 6am, it was under control. Another praise, we really did catch it early enough that no furniture was ruined. Our carpet, brand new in November, can also be salvaged.
So now, with the basement out of commission and all of the basement furniture upstairs, we are living in only about 500 square feet of our 2600 square foot home. I'm praising the Lord for this wonderful bonding time! :) Here's a picture of the sunrise Monday morning. I was never so glad to see the sun and never to discouraged to see all the water! Those of you who have been to our house will probably be able to make out the actual shore line. The water was past the willows.
